For any of you who might be overly curious about my nation, I've started a shiny new LJ to act as the official factbook.

You can see it here.

So I log on today, and what should I see as one of the top ten of the day for MP ToK?

Yeah, I was shocked too, right until I found out that the Republic of Assuran claimed tenth place for "Fattest Citizens".

With an economy like mine, that's to be expected.

Citizens of Assuran, Rejoice!

From my Nation's page:

"The Republic of Assuran is a fledgling, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The small, corrupt, pro-business government devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Welfare and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 2%. A substantial private sector is led by the Cheese Exports industry, followed by Book Publishing and Trout Farming.

Crime is a major problem. Assuran's national animal is the axolotl and its currency is the gold piece."

Sounds rather like what would happen if I actually ran a nation, really...damn matrices and their tendencies to know me too well.

Also, as an aside: Assuran, in the Forgotten Realms Campaign setting, is the LN aspect of Hoar, the Lawful Evil Mulhorandi deity of revenge. Assuran is not concerned so much with this, though, as with irony and poetic justice.

Well, let's see how this turns out!
